James Blunt, the syrupy singer / songwriter who shares with Gary Glitter the distinction of having his name enshrined in rhyming slang has suffered yet another career setback.
The Mayor of Athens Nikos Kaklamanis has ordered two planned Blunt concerts scheduled to take place at the Lycabettus venue to be cancelled because of fears for the safety of the audience. This is in spite of stars such as Gloria Gaynor and Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler having played there recently.
We can’t imagine what risks Mayor Kaklamanis thinks James Blunt poses, unless it is that the saccharine songster might bore the punters to death.
